60 students of Gabriele-von-Bülow-High School visit GUC Berlin Campus
Two 7th grade classes of the Gabriele-von-Bülow-High School in Reinickendorf – Berlin visited on the 6th of April the GUC Berlin Campus. After the official welcome the GUC Berlin team led the young visitors who are aged between twelve and thirteen years through the campus. Subsequently the pupils were briefed about the different study programs and various activities taking place at the GUC in Cairo and its Campus in Berlin. They had also the chance to take a detailed insight about the two study programs of Design and Media Engineering Technology. The visit was concluded with a slideshow about Egypt and a presentation in Egyptian geography and ancient history.
Prof. Ashraf Mansour Prime Founder and Chairman to the Board of Trustees and Ms. Katrin Schultze-Berndt the councilor for education of the district Reinickendorf attended the event.
This school visit is a kick off activity in the frame of the cooperation between the German University in Cairo and the Gabriele-von-Bülow-Gymnasium (GvB).
The idea behind the GUC Campus in Berlin as Professor Ashraf Mansour emphasizes, is to bring the GUC students closer to the German culture, to inspire them for the educational and cultural activities in Berlin and to cooperate with other educational institutions. GUC Berlin Campus serves as a hub for cross-cultural encounter for Egyptian, German and also European students.
Ms. Katrin Schultze - Berndt, district counselor for school, education and culture, is enthusiastic about this cooperation. "A great educational institution in which the students of bilingual school Gabriele von Bülow - Gymnasium can study, can learn interesting facts about Egypt and its culture and at the same time practice the English language with the GUC students!" Said Education Councilor Katrin Schultze - Berndt.
More visits and various events and courses for pupils of all grade levels in Reinickendorf schools are planned to take place within the scope of the cooperation of the German University and the district of Reinickendorf.
Regierender Bürgermeister Michael Müller Prime Minister of the state of Berlin & Minister for Science youth and Education, Ms. Sandra Scheeres visit GUC Berlin Campus
Mr. Michael Müller, Prime Minister (Regierender Bürgermeister) of the state of Berlin, visited GUC Berlin Campus on April 5th, accompanied by members of the State Berlin government. On top of the delegation was Ms. Sandra Scheres, the minister for education and youth, the major of district Reinickendorf, Mr. Frank Balzer, the district counselor for Culture Frau Schultze – Berndt and district counselor for urban planning and environment Mr. Martin Lambert. The event was also attended by the Egyptian Ambassador in Berlin, his Excellency Mr. Badr Abdel Aty. Prof. Ashraf Mansour, Prime Founder of GUC and Chairman of the board of trustees, welcomed his guests by a speech emphasizing on the profound cultural and scientific relations between Egypt and Germany over the past years, that were deepened since the inauguration of the GUC in 2003 followed by an affiliated branch in Berlin inaugurated in 2013, facilitating cross- continents movement of students from Egypt to Germany and vice versa. In his presentation Prof. Mansour showcased the latest developments of the GUC Berlin Campus. He also revealed the latest one of its kind project in Egypt and the region, the GUC Solar City, which is to be inaugurated in April of this year. The delegation was guided on a campus tour to see all the facilities and prospective projects at the GUC Berlin Campus. They also visited the architecture exhibition on campus, where GUC students presented their architectural designs and projects, which they have developed during their semester stay at the GUC Berlin campus.
Egyptian Ambassador in Germany Visits the GUC’s Berlin Campus
Prof. Ashraf Mansour, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German University in Cairo welcomed Egyptian ambassador in Germany, Mr. Badr Abdel Atty and Mr. Hatem Maged, Second Secretary in the GUC Berlin Campus, on the 23rd of February, 2016. Ambassador Abdel Atty made a tour inside the university to salute the students’ underlying potentials and witness the activities performed on campus. He encountered a diversity of Egyptian scholars who stressed on the importance of science and research exchange as a gate to transfer experience, achievements and knowledge to their motherland, Egypt. Prof Mansour addressed a motivational talk to the students stressing on the importance of education and that youth are the pillars for building and developing their nations. Ambassador Abel Atty applauded the friendly motivating spirit that is filling the atmosphere of the Berlin campus. The Ambassador wished the GUC more success to come.
Initiative Reinickendorf Visit at GUC Berlin Campus
On Thursday 26th of February 2015, the members of Initiative Reinickendorf e.V. were welcomed at the GUC Berlin campus. The association, a network and information pool for people from the economic-, political-, cultural- and social field, is aiming at promoting, supporting and giving stimulating input for important projects in the district of Berlin-Reinickendorf. The association’s jour fixe, regularly taking place at different locations in Reinickendorf was hosted at GUC Berlin campus. The meeting was opened by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mansour and joined by GUC administrative and academic staff.
