Terms and Conditions


GUC Berlin is committed to high-quality education based on international standards, conveying state-of-the-art scientific knowledge. The study programs offered by the German University in Cairo and its Berlin branch are accredited from Germany (by ACQUIN). Therefore educational quality management is an integral part of all our offerings, including the summer school. For the administrative part the following terms and conditions apply.

Fees

GUC Berlin Summer School fees depend on your choice of course(s). Please refer to the course list to find out about the fees for your course.

The fee covers tuition and learning materials for the course(s) registered, as well as the participation in the info & cultural program (e.g. sessions regarding “Study in Germany”, farewell party, weekend excursions*), and Wi-Fi access on GUC Berlin Campus.

*Some excursions may have extra transportation cost.

Registration

The registration is completed through GUC Berlin online registration portal at http://guc-berlin.de/summerschool/apply_now.

Once registration documents have been reviewed the candidate will receive a registration notice and an invoice for the summer school fee, usually within one week after completing the registration.

Registration deadline is on 15th of June 2019. Late applications might be considered if places are still available.

Payment

Applicants shall pay the full fee mentioned in the invoice within a maximum of 14 working days of receiving the invoice. The GUC Berlin Summer School is operated by the German International Study Centre (GISC) GmbH (registered in Ulm, Germany, under HRB 723352). Please initiate any payment only after receiving an invoice. Payments can be done via credit card or bank transfer to the account. Kindly state your name and invoice number in the payment reference when using bank transfers.

Participation in the course(s) registered for is only guaranteed when all fees have been paid on time. All bank fees or other charges related to the payment of the fees are to be paid by the participant.

Cancellation

Cancelling a paid course can only be done by email or postal mail. The cancellation note should include your name, the course(s) you registered for, date and signature. The following cancellation fees apply:

  • Up until 4 weeks before the course start: 50% of the full price
  • Less than 4 weeks before the course start: 100% of the price

Changes

Changing a course or a participant’s name (after eligibility check) is possible up to 4 weeks before the start of the course.

Personal Data and pictures

All your personal data will be protected and not passed to third party entities. It will only be used for internal statistics.

The GUC Berlin team might take pictures during the courses and the info & cultural program. The pictures might be used for online and offline information material. Should a participant not desire any photos, it is his/her responsibility to inform the respective photographers and the GUC Berlin Team accordingly.

Program Management

GUC Berlin reserves the right to cancel a course if the minimum number of participants is not reached. In this case the registered students will be informed and given the choice to either change the course or to get a full reimbursement.

Each course has an assessment policy specified in the course description. Certificates (also for credit transfer) can only be awarded when course requirements are fulfilled, including attendance of at least 75% of all course hours.

Visa

Each participant is responsible to obtain the right kind of visa and ensure that his/her stay in Germany is legal. You may use the Summer School acceptance letter (sent after payment completed) for visa application

Liability and Force Majeure

The liability for damage and legal responsibility of GUC Berlin and its employees is limited to intent and negligence. Cancellation of a course or other activities of the GUC Berlin Summer School program as a result of illness, force majeure or otherwise unforeseeable events or developments may occur. In such a case, participants are not entitled to having such courses or other aspects take place.

Place of Jurisdiction

The laws of the Federal Republic of Germany shall apply to these terms and conditions, and the parties agree to Berlin (Germany) as the place of jurisdiction.
